Little-known appellation up above the foothills of Tehema County.  East of Red Bluff in the shadow of Mt. Lassen.  About 2500′.  Really well-put-together stuff from Alain Teutschmann.  Wonderful colour and density and deep, ripe, fabu nose.  Perfect acidity.  Well balanced.  Tiny winery–mab 500cs/yr.  Estate grown on vines I remember him planting in the mid-80’s.  And the stuff is $15/bottle!  No tasting room, just call him and he will ‘thief’ you for hours in his tiny but wonderfully-equipped winery.  Solid stuff with barely any recognition.   ♦♦
