I remember the first Frei Bros I tasted, when the program first rolled out. Gallo’s Sonoma project. And the benchmark: Gallo Signature Sonoma Cabernet, which was a 60$ wine at the time. Kinda yummy, easy wines with just the right balance of early appeal and possible structure. Mediocre+ and this one is no different. A passable young wine which has turned into a passable–and boring ‘older’ wine. No flaws, but nothing interesting. Just safe. One of many examples of a well-aged cheap wine.
