Bright and clear, but on the garnet side of ruby. Fairly typical bomby Grenache fruit in the nose with wet-black-walnut-cutting-board backing it up. Fruit-forward, but not the cloying bunco-party, Meridian Zin sorta fruit… a really decent, ripe, lurking fruit with a certain ‘perceived sweetness’. Acidic to a fault with robust tannin carrying on long into the finish.
Kinda like a barrel-sample, sorta that neutral barrel/freshly sulphited thing. Not a horrible wine for a sub-20$ GSMC. That would be Carignane FTW! Fun to drink. Fun to see Joel Gott doing something like this, but not something I would buy a case of. I remember the first Joel Gott I ever tasted… maybe 15 years ago… Solid, good price-point stuff. Take this to your next Pampered Chef party.
