Crystal-clear bright ruby with purple-to-clear edges. Alcohol- and glycerin-nose of old barrels and ripe blackberry with a touch of nutmeg and browned-butter. Solid fruit on entry with healthy acids turning quickly into manageable tannin. Great drying finish with tannins fading correctly forever and ever. A classic Alexander Valley, but with steely, lab-made, sourced-fruit overtones decrying the label’s claim of 3 years in “mostly new” french oak. Not a terrible wine. Just young and reasonably un-interesting. If you like Alex cabs which *might* reward from 10+years in cellar, this is the one for you.
