Beautiful sparkling ruby with thin, clear edges.  Massive briary nose–like Alexander Valley quality–which lasts far too briefly in the bouquet and disappears into nice warm cola and coffee over a well-rounded fruit and bounces back in classic fashion to mostly vanilla mustiness with considerable air.  Lovely black cherry and pomegranate in the mouth with crisp acids ever-present.  A nicely balanced wine all around but fairly meager all around as well and punctuated with quite soft tannins.  There are absolutely no flaws in this bottle.  It just lacks the extraction and concentration I have become accustomed to in my cabs.  Just so thin.  Nice and drinkable though–and even at this young age will service dinner perfectly.  A classic, clean, perfect, claret.  But that’s it.  13-0   ♦♦
