Pale yellow. Fairly serious bubbles. Melon-rind, green banana-peel, bum-urine and celery. I feel a lot of the wonderful things we all love about SB are combined with the austerity of bubbles and get translated wrong. I don’t care for this wine. It’s not *bad*, just there are so many bubblies more interesting. I know I am probably supposed to just drink it and be happy because bubbles and fun but I just can not turn off the seriousness of a bottle and a label and a stopper with wine inside. The still-wine SB from this producer is AMAZING. I drink far more white wine than I post on here, and when I DO drink white wine, they are typically Gewurztraminer and SB. The SB still-wine from Bodkin is a magical situation involving spice and earth and magic and angels, but the sparkling version I just can not get behind. Decent fruit in the mouth, some wet-cardboard cellar-floor nuances and just a *glimpse* of the phenomenal fruit and floral I experienced with the still. I’m not even sure the two are different versions of the same wine. Probably not. Both served at FULL MOON TASTING ROOM in Cayucos. 11-5 ♦
