Campy Chianti

Medium garnet through-and-through fading to light brick.  Big, unpleasant funk on opening but breathes out to mere wet-sidewalk, vegetal and brett accents on an underlying raspberry fruit and buttery oak.  Fruit turns a bit toward cranberry in the mouth, shoved along with driving acid and thinning out mid-palate in the face of high-note tannin.  A lovely little IGT which will never be confused with many of the common examples of Super-Tuscans on shelves in California driven by huge, lush Merlot or powerful Cab.  It is Sang-reflective to a tee and while its easy-drinking is appreciated by this reviewer, a vast majority will lump it under that annoying nom de plume of *food-wine*.  It is not an expensive bottle, and my finding it for 50% of its FR pricing of 14$ just makes it more attractive.   13-0   ♦
