DON’T CALIFORNICATE OREGON

Light ruby, fading to the slightest amber.  Briary, dense and smoky with a distinctive musky perfume.  Gucci Guilty, to be specific.  Crisp vanilla covering a beautiful root-beer minerality.  Thinner in the mouth than expected–well, maybe not, Hell, I don’t know WHAT to expect form OR pn’s.  The few I taste are SO all over the place.  This one is watery and vapid, headed South and probably never had any luggage to begin with.  Reserve?  What exactly are we reserving?  The surprise for later?  The bathwater?  Wait.  It’s Oregon.  So that saves on bathwater.  Definitely watery.  No fruit at all.  Straight to Vit. C acridity and a finish bitter, weirdly rusty-metal, disgusting and awkward.  2008 Argyle Reserve Pinot Noir Willamette Valley  14-0   ◊
