Beautiful clear light ruby and pink edges which stain slightly and nicely. Barely a trace of funk, but giant cedar-box and decomposed granite and tart cherry fruit over salted licorice. Dusty rose floral with nice cassis notes toying with green-stemmy stuff and sweet oak displayed in late-aeration.
I don’t typically get enthused–or even participate–about *Wine-Days* or *Wine-Weeks* but this Cab Franc Day thing I can totally get behind. So many versions and variables! A couple of main styles, and I have to admit for the first 20 years of my wine-life I ONLY was exposed to the Bordeaux-style: from BDX or CA. This is a NINETEEN DOLLAR WINE. Lively and bright, but with enough brooding deep-dark-stuff going on to make California-wonk sit up and notice.
In the mouth, more beautiful fruit laden with acid, a stunning concentration and depth. Goes a bit simple in the middle before tight fruit brings around effortless, precise tannins. Holy wow what a great wine.
