Barbed Wire

What’s your favorite young spicy red fruit & funk bomb? Gamay? Chinon? Sonoma Coast syrah or grenache? Valdiguie? Blaufränkisch? Sicily? Cru-bojo? Bairrada? This not-so-little thang comes off a lil green in the nose, incredible minerality and stemmy fruit defying its near-impenetrable black ruby, a wilted lily perfectly complimenting the crushed rocks. In the mouth, ridiculously jammy burnt & bright fruit, screaming acid and cat-tongue tannin. The label claims 60YO vines, clay, 12 mos oak and 13-5, and I am claiming it as just another stupid-good Last Bottle Wines selection. I hope you bought as many as I did. This Mencia floats like a butterfy and stings like a bee.
