Clear beautiful garnet, bricking considerably. Big round Zinfandel lusciousness of smoky funk and wet leather combine with Chinese 5-spice, cassis and that decisive warmth of the variety. The decided *St. Helena-ness* of the fruit and structure place it in a very special category of Zinfadels produced across its signature state.

In the mouth, more roundness, rich and ripe, meaty conifer limb-snapping and latex align with considerably less alcohol than the nose exhibits. Drinking at near-perfect, the herb and butter blackberry offer a cranberry elevation borne on pencil-box and cigar-shop with shrill acid and dusky earth only visible in Napa Valley Zin.

Go ahead. Drink your prune-syrup and searing-test Zinfandels from around the state. Then come back to Napa Valley versions of the variety. You’ll wonder how you ever swallowed the other stuff. THIS is what zinfandel is supposed to taste like.
