Fish scales and buttered rum under cherry cardboard compote on a surprisingly thinnish muddy middle. Ridiculously homogenous mouthfeel, simple simple tannin retreating to long-lasting bitter burn neither compelling or structured or harsh enough to get credit. I’ve read so many gushing things about this wine. Help me out here. Easily one of the least-compelling 11’s to date. Smooth sassafras and easy mint create a lowest-common-denominator quaffer running more muddled Kool-Aid than Mondavi patriarchy. I’d really like to stop drinking crowd-pleasing old-skool creations.
