The most ridiculous brown nutty fruit imaginable. Gobs of maraschino and mascarpone wrapped in layers of everything tapenade and black tea and pure sweaty sex with the kind of rich jellied fruit that defies reason, everything coalescing into blackberry chocolate mineral so rich and streamlined you ask yourself, Is this the real life? Can this be Paso? Or am I dreaming some twisted Northern Rhone evolution that is not possible from this bottle of California in front of me?
100% WC, all neutral oak, Adams Ranch has always been my favorite wine from this producer and this 5 YO selection proves they are doing everything right. Probably the finest example of Syrah available from this region and if you haven’t had it, you are doing yourself a great disservice. I know I’m pretty hard on Paso Robles wines, but bottles like this make it a wine-region you CAN NOT ignore.
