Bright Lights & Vagueness

Light and thin while still deep ruby, an astrigent nose both illustrious and troubling with ripe fruit cascading off in classic Grenache fashion while maintaining a neutral-barrel type of calmness. It’s a bit dank–but not too much–a smoky sort of placidness atop dull blackberry and soggy apple.

The pink edges contribute to the mouthfeel considerably: youthfulness in spite of deep glory. Why this is labeled “Table Wine” while still being 100% grenache is a question for the marketers, but it doesn’t detract from the whole palate offering. The fruit is a thin: glorious patina on sharp acid and a burn heading into the finish raspy and delightful. Stellar Grenache, not knocking any balls out of the park while still granting perfect typicity on all sides. A bit watery in finish, not representing any tannin to speak of and fading off into berry-delirium with de-crescendoing aplomb. I hope they made 10 barrels of this because a better BTG offering could not be imagined.
