Not a lot of new labels get me excited, but this producer hits everything outa the yard. Delicious, sharp Chards, elegant, restrained Pinots, and type-perfect Grenaches. The latter here invigorates with the same sly magic of my last visit, though perhaps some of the woodsy green aspects pulled back a bit in favor or round fullness. Dusty and drrrrty on the nose, highlighted by soft, full berry: lush and darkly ripened. Bright med-ruby in the glass with absolutely no amber at the pink, thin rim.
Ripe and decadent on the palate–warm, even–as the plush fruit trickles slowly all over the mouth in a coating imbued with gentle spice and deep sprite. A chalkiness climbs in midway, going sharp-bitter with slight acridity which only exemplifies its fruit-framing. Everything about this wine is a win, and I’m ahppy to see serious, varietally-correct Grenache finally flowing from the Central Coast, and here: no crazy bling-bro AVA, just plain old Edna. Not a whole lot of this wine out there, but easily distributed locally and something EVERY true Grenache fan should experience.
