2020

Not a horrible wine, but with asterisks. Cheap musty nose, like, what’s going on here? I’m happy to say it is not the usual 2012 chubby elixir, there’s gobs of grainy mineral somewhat spicing up the nose, but it smells FAR beyond what I am looking for in 10 YO Napa cab. Tertiary runs deep: all gracious burnt leather and chocolate fixings tired and reflective of its bricking, amber appearance. Waxy and vague, it feels like either cheap cab asked to go the long-run or something 20 or even 30 years in the making. A sharp bouquet of fruit-decline is the governing factor.

On the palate, more fatigue is apparent, nothing bright or lovely: it’s all a distilling-down of vague Cabernet nuances pointed with tired aplomb. Bitter and harsh in finish, a prime example of wine made for early lush points-garnering with little regard for classic beauty and finesse. Dirty and vague late-middle through finish, let’s just let this one go and call it *shallow*. That’s the best I can do. Everything points to mediocrity and pointlesness at this juncture. It didn’t hold up.
