Ber Ber Ber

Continuing on with the *Treasury Boycott* because a friend of mine got butthurt last week about my parodies of Daou-fan’s IT’S THE END OF THE WORLD stupidity. Seriously??? You think I would call for a boycott of Treasury? Not on your life. I have a cellar FULL of Treasury. Glorious Beringers and BV’s and Penfold’s and Wolf Blass’ and Stags’ Leap’s. This particular wine is a lot harder to find than Knight’s Valley for some reason. Harder to find than Three Palms or even PR. Maybe it’s a California thing, but I NEVER see the *regular* cab. My only 2010 and the second VINTAGE OF THE DECADE we had in 4 years. (there was another one 3 years later). Big ripe nose crammed with tertiary goodness while still having bright notes. But for the most part, it is dark and mired in concentration and maraschino. Beautiful to smell, the spicy spectre enlivening all.

In the mouth, classic astringency bites behind dank maceration. A chewy grain of grape structure defies the transparent view-shed and bits of warm banana and tropical distillations ice the berry. God, what a beautiful wine, perfectly capturing “Napa Valley” while maintaining the ‘Beringer’ feel. Perhaps they’re synonymous?
