A big, blustery, sorta SLH-ish feeling ripe concoction, but not without some pure Pinot essences. Meaty and dense, the glass an impenetrable ruby with brownish edges. Flaccid and ripe in nose, tasting it will be the defining factor.
On the palate, a chunky sort of berry–one had to constantly remind oneself this is going into a decade of age–but it doesn’t require too much imagination. Past-peak, a charming reminder big, blustery concoctions do not age classically. Black cherry hints at tertiary, and everywhere: the exposure of concentration at the expense of acid and balance. The bitter of finality could be considered *tannic*, but in reality it is just heat and mis-aligned briar. A pinot destined for #winebro super-maceration enjoyment, without qualifying qualities true lovers require. Not a horrible drinker–if one doesn’t think too hard–but un-interesting and shallow beyond. Thin in finish and uncomplicated in stuffing, a chubby wine showing all signs of early enjoyment and nothing for the long-run.
