Sapphire

I’ve heard rumors recently of this winery being no more, which is kind of sad as they solidified themselves in Healdsburg’s Tin City as a zin house and then slowly and silently began adding Cabernet in certain years to their roster in the late 2000s. I fell in love with these Cabernet offerings early on and bought heavily, and I’m glad I opened this tonight, because I have quite a few left and it’s not showing in the wondrous ways I had expected. Oh it’s good… Don’t get me wrong: deep and fruity and magnificent but nothing stupidly overwhelming, but just basically–here at 11–a juicy, medium density, smoothly tannic, Alexander Valley Cab. Probably an adult stage, where tertiary is going to slowly make its way to the forefront in the next decade, but right now, it’s just good wine.
