Working Man

10yo red blend from a defunct label lurkin in cellar and all your expectations are met. Crazy bottle-funk in the nose, blowing off to grimy fruit with asterisks on freshness and vivacity. It’s gritty and grimy, the berry distilled down into things *not quite* tertiary but also not quite tired. A lovely wine, actually, though the burn of alcohol surpasses many nuances. Flabby tannin combine with said heat for a mouthfeel lacking life and luster. Just don’t think about it too hard. Dranken 5 years too late, and while rather clean and layered–holding up well–there’s a vitality missing.
