The nose solidifies chubby blackberry in a sorta crystalline tincture allowing the funk of pinot to express itself below in subtle ways. In the mouth, it goes all pinot-furious, with etchy tannins climbing onto well-polished fruit for a grand ride. It feels far more alcoholic than the label suggests: a burn throughout had me guessing at 14+ to great embarrassment upon checking the bottle. A peculiar pinot, with a chalky gloriousness captivating the middle and finish and overcoming the ripeness and burn. All-the-while: old-skool laboriousness with berry chimes on and on, quite possibly creating an ageless wine.
