Bought a six pack of these on release at deep discount and wasn’t in love with it at the time and I’m still not entirely in love with it but it has its merits. Kind of chubby, kind of 99% pleasing, although I feel the fruit is starting to fade terribly. It’s all bitter angst which on one hand I kind of appreciate and on the other hand, coupled with it’s chubby nature I kind of fucking hate. Deep ruby with ridiculous legs and a slightly bricking rim, The nose is big and effluent, and the mouth-feeling all crazy chalky dryness where the fruit has wrapped itself into something not entirely pretty but at the same time justifiable. Copious of bearing and beleaguered with gritty nuances, it’s holding its own while at the same time showing those kinds of things from high rated vintages the general populace loves but brings asterisk to any serious contemplation. Definitely not something I’m pouring down the drain, but kind of exemplifies everything wrong with modern Napa cab. And by wrong I mean what some of us feel is wrong with Napa cab, not what the general populace thinks.
