Decades-long fan, but never had anything but their Merlot before. Not even sure what all they make but definitely my first time with their chard. Not Arroyo Seco tho–as is usually expected in these parts. Crisp while grainy with petrol and cardboard and slivers of sharp acid throughout. Buttery to an *extent*, but only to showcase the beauty of the variety. Ripe apple, lemon curd, slight tropical and steadfastly delicious, it manages Chablis with aplomb while still meticulously evoking California. Bitter and transcendent in finish, thr greenbriar patches of freeway mowing course through nose AND palate, teetering perfectly on chalk and icy fog. A near-perfect chard.
