These are typically so ripe and fresh and perfect I really wasn’t expecting the nuances here. Not sure what I was expecting, but this is soldiered down on ridiculous funk and savory berry bruised beyond belief. I would say maybe 20-year-old Yorkville Highlands or maybe 25-year-old Qupe? Awash in delirious alcohol and muddled black fruit, dedicated and fairly delicious, though one could argue fatigued. Gear lube and rosemary, cigar and oily paper, it is intriguing, but with asterisks. A 7yo syrah can be a lot of things, this one chose war.
