That instant you think it’s dirty and past-prime and then you remember it is Anderson Valley, so it’s been like that since day 1. The brightest dank of dark woodsy vegetal imaginable, clawing at bitter tannin and compost with fruit a ratchety scrape of bark and pith across cheese-graters of juicy plum and blackberry. A bit of off-putting chemical waft in the nose which *somewhat* blows off, but beyond that, a stupidly delicious wine. As usual. Finish goes complex depth, dark and grainy, fine-tuned and brilliant for ever and ever.
