I’ve always felt 128 and 389 were short-term yummies and this 2006 seriously supports that theory. Fabu nose which convinces you you are in for an A- or better syrah experience–not intoxicating, but lively and lovely and polished and coarse. But that’s it. Completely faded. A little spunk up front drizzling into meager nothingness with a bit of acid on the edges. The tannin will far outlive the fruit in this wine. Make that: The tannins HAVE far outlived the fruit on this wine. Such a wonderful wine young though… I’ll take Bin 28 any day over this flash-in-the-pan stuff.
