It’s a bird. It’s a plane. It’s a SYRAH! Oh but the label says PN. Well, it’s inky ruby, it’s fruit-forward, doesn’t really have enough charm to be a cotes du rhone or Crozes-Hermitage, there’s no earthiness or musk, only AL and acid and tannin. I suppose if I were dumb and stupid, I could like this as a PN in a fantasy land of 10yrs of age, but no–it won’t be there for you. I know I have been on a SMV kick lately–and I am REALLY excited about the appellation, but there are misses, like any region. Pass. ◊
