I don’t always show pricetags, but when I do, it is because great value. In this case, a very fair value. In the realm of 50$ PN’s post-Sideways, it is always nice to find something solid which is reasonably priced. You would expect a CA appell from a PN at this pricepoint, but no. Carneros. Super thin light ruby with wide clear edges. Nice deep ripe nose of true pinot-fruit and a touch of briar duskiness. Mab a tad glyceriney? Great fruit all the way through but not the fruit-FWD variety which smacks of scrap-booking parties. Solid pinot nuances and fruit all the way through the mouth with considerable acids rounding things up. There is no mistaking this for a pinot. This is one of those pinots pinot-wonk will love and the kind non-pinot enthusiasts will go, “Hey, I don’t usually like pinot, but this is GOOD!”
