PAYDIRT

Dark staining ruby.  A rush of oak mellows considerably with air–several hours in decanter leaves you with gamy brilliance, heavily dosed in sappy trademark Zinfandel.  There is no mistaking this for Zin.  It’s pretty fat.  Fruit is cloying.  But this particular bottling has an earthy nuance brightening and freshening the whole.  In the mouth, chokingly concentrated, an absolute POWERHOUSE wine with decadent fruit dripping from all corners and acid surging in the background.  A nice cellar-floor continues the earthy bouquet thread.  anyone who reads me knows I don’t cross the street to compliment Paso Zins.  I have been impressed with all of this label’s wines but this is far and away my favorite to date.  An absolutely STUNNING Zinfandel.
