Little 9yo DOC (which I believe is now DOCG) comin off funky and bruised and bitter packed with pencil shavings and raisin sauce in the nose and going decidedly latex and vegetal in the mouth. Fruit on ELEVEN, a little brick in the glass, but no alarms in my low threshold for prune and oxidation are being triggered from this dried over-ripe bullshit I typically roll my eyes at. I know that’s heresy, but that’s how I feel about Amarone and if it gives my palate an asterisk, I’m OK with that. This is a fun glass of wine, but so is 25yo Napa cab with bad provenance. Which is kind of what this wine resembles.
