Here’s a fun one. Dark, dense purple–not exactly transparent. Great spicy nose, lots of funk and asphalty ire, a huge helping of greasy black undergrowth boosting the SERIOUS cherry along. This is a ripe one, there’s no doubt about it. Still, all the funk you die for and plenty of rusty iron minerality, but clean and focused on layers and layers of floral and fruit.
In the mouth, this is a pretty serious Cru-bojo. Dense and concentrated, fruit swelling, but thinned out by acid mid-palate. Despite the intense stuffing, an almost spritzy feel hits the tongue. Blockbuster tannin, achingly dry and raspy through the crazily-peppered finish. Gorgeous stuff.
I’m glad I have several of these… This is one to lay down and enjoy for many years. I’m not saying I don’t like my flowery, pretty, light gamays, but this thing is out for BUSINESS.
