Pressed For Time

Delving again into the PRESS GANG inventory, this is a little 2-barrel Alisos darling just turning 6 and feelin FINE! Dirty, asphalt-y grime churns out of the cloudy still-pink garnet, transparent and thin. The complexity of the nose evokes Pinot-discussion, as it muddles earthy fruit against deep instigations of barnyard and briar. Round and full, the edgy abrasion of mineral comes through the concentrated berry easily in the bouquet, suggesting what to find in the middle of the taste.

In the mouth, a cleaner example of the grape you’d be hard-pressed to find. But it carries that almost-SYV charisma plainly to set it apart from Sonoma Coast versions. Zingy acidity bites yard on entry, drilled in with deep cherry concentration and clear ripeness. Gamey; salt-water fishy; dusty blood-orange; smooth barrel reduction; a straight freeway of berry; tapenade and wet stone making up the mineralific foundation; SOOOO sweet and distinct. Tannin resolving from the fire in the attack to solidify the finish.

Absolute perfection in a wine that is not only fun and easy to drink, but bears eventful dissection by the 1% with nary a flaw. Probably long sold out, but that doesn’t stop you from checking out this project from deep inside Santa Barbara wine country.
