Gorgeously gamey and green, sweet sour-cherry in the nose enlivened with wet dirt and moldy briar. Latex gloves and toe-jam in a brilliant meld of savory acridity and funky berry. The kind of bouquet making you very happy you chose this wine–both off the shelf originally and now in your glass. Dark clear ruby with a hint of blue at the rim.
Soooo acidic, but the fruit NOT a thin wisp, rather: a clairvoyant elixir of raspberry and rhubarb, perfectly con-joined ripeness with raspy body. Bitter cold envelopes the entire mouth-feel, and at low cellar temps it is rather refreshing–room temperature richens all things but stopping FAR short of chubby. A palate governed by California density will naturally call it “simplistic” and “awkward”, but I’m here to tell you this is a STUNNING wine. An easy reward for disdaining mono-culture in wine-enthusiasm.
