Going back to Mounts and 2019 with aplomb. And such a brilliant wine. Deep and coursed, a light garnet in the glass with wide amber edges moving to clear at the rim. A nose salty and bright, but dulled down in rich amber greatness you can SMELL. Armpit loveliness and deep cherry dedication, it makes all things *Grenache* a withering testament to the sometimes-pinot-sometimes-syrah juxtaposition this variety exudes without even breaking a sweat. But sweaty it is! In the mouth, a bracing example of acidity causes all pause as one defines “structure” in such a light, heavenly package. It’s thinning–and possibly at peak–but going NOWHERE in terms of fading of fatigue. A glorious wine of nearly indescribable content, though headed watery and acidic, and going PEAK grenache on all terms.
