Dark staining ruby with pink edges, thick and impenetrable. Really dark, deep marachino-cherry candied fruit with banana peel and campfire smoke blasts out of the glass. A touch alcoholic, even at *only* 14-3. Somewhat fat and un-inspiring in the mouth, huge ample fruit, but just… kinda… uninspiring. It is really good WINE, just not convinced it is really good PINOT. If I ordered this blind off a list in a resty with guests, I would be very pleased and everybody would love it. But here at home where I can study it a little better, it just doesn’t fall too close to what I really appreciate in a Pinot. Little if any acid or tannin, and just a breath of briar. Just big, fat, ripe, round, supple red wine with just enough presence in the nose to tell you it is indeed Pinot Noir. ◊
