Medium garnet with wide amber edges. Big floral, maple bar, ever-so-slightly oxidized fattiness layered on lush too-sweet fruit. Grainy pepper over mild but lush oak. Another Broc offering, and you can somewhat start to feel the approach early on in the palate. This stuff is clean and focused, not as briary and tannic as I like in a zin–this is an easy-drinking quaffer–but with commendable density. In the mouth, mellow and easy, curling pruney in a couple of watery corners. A decent spice pops up before heading off into a sweet sunset completely devoid of tannin. 13-5 ♦
