Med ruby, clear, no edge and somewhat staining. Bright sweet funk, dried spit and oak head into focused briar and Red-Flame grape fruit. Brilliant vanilla and red mud on late breathing, with deep cassis and astringency visible. Now, I am not the world’s biggest Amarone fan, let’s get that outa the way. Often I find them over-concentrated and dark, suffering from pre-mature oxidation. Not this one. In the mouth, stunningly bright and vibrant, acid burning and fruit shining bright from entry til late in finish. Generous tannin. A beautiful wine–alive and supple–with amazing versatility and potential.
