“No One Can Sell Syrah”

img_20160906_201131690_hdrRuddy dense garnet out to slightly bricking edges. Very closed in, letting little out in the early term. Big buttery almond follows a whiff of latex, then dusty rose and ripe fig. Fat bits of luscious fruit start pouring out at an hour of breathing, layering you with a soapy peppery polish. The petrichor and still-green tannin writhe alongside straw-mulch fresh-turned earth and barnyard funk. In the mouth, a generous dose of alcohol mingles with bright pepper match head and blood orange. Chalky density balances bright citrus fruit and minerality haltingly, but seamlessly. A still-lively example of Dry Creek Valley Syrah drinking at its prime.
