Initial soft nectarine blows off to dusty chalky dry green briar overshadowing some of the more perfect caramel-fig-rose hips and cherry I have seen in a while. No tropical here, boys & girls, it’s all cut-floral silk and straight funky sex.
BUT LET’S TASTE IT
Bright clarity and laser-focus on the tongue. Ridiculously acidic, magnificently tannic, fruit dreams never grow to ANYTHING near California perspectives, a green gritty rinse of feel-good nectar and chocolate dreams that will put your faith back into wine. Oh, it’s ripe–don’t get me wrong–I’m guessing 13-oh at least and it shows itself with all this compote and preserve but the brilliant dusky rasp of Medoc is unmistakable. So much energy, so much life, so much smile from me.
This is also NOT an expensive wine so call your rep, call your shop, have them bring it in.
