Achingly delicious nose, raspy and gummy-bear and steeped in briar and peach cobbler and green funk teetering on the brightest edge of barnyard. Gracious blessings from Heaven in the mouth, but not overwhelmingly rewarding or instantly gratuitous. This is thinking-man’s Pinot, blisteringly acidic and equally tannic, but in between are all the tidbits of Burgundian–WITH A SONOMA COAST ASTERISK–greatness. This is a lean, mean, fightin machine, all California, but cowboy country. Rough, sweaty elegance and the softest voice of fruit under all those callouses. Definitely one for the cellar.
