Checking in on an old friend. Big green olive and sour mint in the nose. Valley floor sidewalk and the carbonated dreams of school boys crowded around vending machines. Deep warm ruby with definite brick in the rim. Eucalyptus and vegetal intensify with each passing swirl, assuring you this will be nothing short of classic Napa Valley goodness.
Steely clean fruit in the mouth, Luxardo cherries, Buddha’s hand zest, sweaty pony-tail in rubber-band, but above all the zang of straight, solid, ripe-berry fruit playing classic slow-on-the-uptake 2011 with even a little stereotypical greenness behind those shrill stony gates.
I don’t have to tell any of you how much I love 2011, but be sure and check in on them from time to time. Now-thru-2030 on this one. In absolute perfect pitch-black 50° storage probably 2040.
