Beautiful clear grenache ruby with nice pink edges. Asphalt and matchhead and big toasted oak alongside simple cherry and a bit of alcohol. In the mouth, the cherry heads off into smokey poolside syrupy-land, thorough and bright but with gobs of dessert-like decadence, clanging acids firmy alongside down through tannins that never really materialize.
Blubberlingly bright and pointedly concentrated, I could sell END CAPS of this stuff! Not my style, but oh man I am in wine-marketing and NOT myopic enough to see this as a ridiculously popular wine. Oak. Sugar. Dark berry. Soft tannins. THE GANG’S ALL HERE! You will not be able to keep this in stock I PROMISE.
