Dark transparent ruby. All the stemmy mountain goodness you love in the nose, nutty and sharp, peach pit and golden seal, wet garnet sandpaper and rosehips. A certain amount of your classic CF tomato vine, but overshadowed by nectarine and black-olive fruit. A smooth, pleasing, elegant and un-abrasive party in the mouth–I had predicted a bit more aggression.
Full-fruited and round on entry–plush even–thick, full plum and avocado streamlined and straight-forward, but shockingly fleshy all the way through to finish. No tannin to speak of, a sharp pang of acid pierces the final peaty note, pinning the whole package together on the wall for all to appreciate. I LOVE this wine. Holy fuck is it beautiful. And cheap.
