A pitchy wail rises up from a concentration of black cherry difficult to comprehend. Bitter and soiled in tone, it takes icy granite and rosin to a new level–but tempers everything with a toasty fruit playing Good & Plenty against Juicy Fruit.
In the mouth, sharp and bright on entry, then round chubbiness somewhat takes over. The fruit is spicy–that’s for sure–dredged in allspice and coriander and all that crimson flesh releases the tannin you desire to play with the thin charming middle.
These guys are having a whole lot of fun playing with these Italian varieties. Aglianico. Sangiovese. And now Teroldego. This is a wine that would woo a lot of folks. It’s not Alto Adige, it lacks something in the middle… maybe acidity? But this is California, baby. This stuff’s getting ripe. All that warm sunshine the Alps dream about. This wine has it.
