Two completely unexpected surprises tonight, a 13 year-old rosé found in the cellar from a defunct winery and a Mendo meritage I can find basically NO info on gifted by a stranger.
Shadow Canyon I am assuming is straight Syrah, full of life and acidity and fruit–didn’t expect anything except tiredness–lovely and vibrant without the usual things one assumes will come out of a glass this age.

Byrd has no social media, vague website, no prices, a textbook Mendocino bordeaux, all briar and life and a spicy decadence which makes me want to seek this producer out. A STUNNING red wine, hitting on all notes, if you know it, you know–if you can find it: GET IT.
