Dense ruby with a wide pink edge. Newsprint, vaguely smoky, dark cherry nose with smatterings of dirty spice in a pond-water base. Big alcoholic new shag carpet and deep inside a small nut of decent fruit trying to shed an mineral edge. Over-all just a muddy stew with jammy fruit half-heartedly making an appearance.
I can tell you right now this is the LEAST inspiring of all the Aglicanico’s I’ve had this week. It’s even got some age on it, and even then it’s not working. Unlike any of the other DOC or DOCG versions with brairy fruit pumping out of it.
In the mouth a muddled electrical-fire fruit pauses thin and unfocused on the tongue, nothing bright, nothing beautiful, nothing even rich and tertiary. One-dimensional and harsh, with weedy bitterness clamoring in the background. Acid muted and unable to breathe life into anything, a deep pruny Zin-like spectre hangs over everything. Vapidly tannic, the whole package is muddy and un-focused.
There are SO many better Taurasi’s. Search them out.
